Heavy Surf Day

It was a big and heavy surf day on the coast around Monterey today. We haven’t been able to dive in Monterey Bay in over two months now because of heavy seas and our schedules.

Heavy surf at Lovers Point today. We didn’t bother diving here.

Monastery Beach was really rocking and rolling today.

Stay safe out there, everyone! These sea conditions are meant for surfers, not divers.

17 Mile Drive with Dmitri, Sul, and Violet

Dmitri, Sul, and Violet came to visit us in Monterey for a few days to check out the sights. I went with them to do 17 Mile Drive on a nice, sunny day.
Dmitri and Violet on one of the beaches along 17 Mile Drive. Violet loved playing in the sand.
A pelican gang flying along the beach.
Checking out the tide pools. Violet really liked the little hermit crabs.
Big surf along the coast at Pebble Beach.
This crazy dude actually went through the surf zone at Carmel River Beach. There was really big surf sweeping the beach that made me nervous watching.

Pacific Grove Feast of Lanterns

We attended the annual Feast of Lanterns pageant in Pacific Grove.  In the summer, it gets very foggy and cold here.  Part of the pageant is a dragon that swims around in the water.

The pageant is about to get underway.

Lighting up some of the fireworks.  The lovers transform into monarch butterflies!

The fireworks shooting up into the fog looked pretty cool.

Poor seals at the seal beach down the way did not like all the loud noises.
