Portland Timbers vs Seattle Flounders

Heather, Sean, Katie, and I went to the big Timbers vs Flounders match.  We drove up very early in the morning to try and get wrist bands.  As luck would have it, we got the last four wrist bands available!

The pitch ready for the match.

 A brilliant beverage holder.

The Timbers Army starts to flood in.

 Other fans come in.

 An AMAZING head dress.

 We found a pink unicorn.

The Timbers tied the Flounders 1-1.  A few more games will have to be played to decide who will win the Cascadia Cup.  Derby days will continue!

Portland Timbers vs Independiente

On Tuesday Brady and I went up to watch the Portland Timbers play Independiente in a friendly match.  We arrived in Portland early in order to visit some of the finer breweries of the west side.  Our first stop was at Dechutes.

Next was Bridgeport Brewing.

And then on to Rogue.  After that we met Cassandra and her mom at The Bitter End for a pint before we all piled into the stadium.

In the stadium we found seats in the second row of Section 107.  Yes, the fabled 107.

Brady and I were both pretty stoked.

Time to get the flag waving started!

Cassandra joined us in the Timbers Army for the first half of the game.  Her mom held down their seats in Section 99.

Jesi and Brent found seats directly behind us.

At some point, Cassandra’s camera ended up in someone else’s purse.  Never quite figured out how that happened.

Two goals back to back kept Timber Joey busy.

It ended up being a 2-0 game.  Timber Joey cut another round for the goal keeper to denote that no one had scored against him that night.

After the game Brady and I relaxed at another bar with Cassandra and company.  Finally, we all headed south down the freeway to our respective homes.  Yet another great time was had with the Timbers Army!

Zach and Vera Come to Portlandia

Zach and Very flew up from Los Angeles last weekend for Vera’s family reunion in Oregon City.  I was fortunate enough to have their time on Friday before the reunion kicked off.  We went to Powell’s and Dechutes Brewpub in the morning before heading up to the Rose and Japanese Gardens in the afternoon.

Mount Hood in the distance.

In the Japanese Gardens.

Zach and Vera contemplating how the gravel gets raked so precisely.

Koi being fed.

This man banged a stick on the rock next to the water to call the fish.  Fish from the very far end of the pond came swimming as fast as they could to get an afternoon snack.

Hopefully it won’t be another year before I see Zach and Vera again.  Come on, guys!  Get up here for a full three-day weekend with me!
