The Loch

In Rocky Mountain National Park, we hiked up to The Loch via the trail along the creek that comes down from the lake.  It is a beautiful ascent.  The photos unfortunately had to be taken in HDR mode on my phone because of how the clouds created trouble with my camera.

A big waterfall almost directly over top of the water diversion tunnel (several hundred feet below) that brings water from the west side of the continental divide.

It was a great hike and I look forward to exploring the higher lakes in this basin someday.

Back Over The Mountains Through Rocky Mountain National Park

STA_0981 - STJ_0990After a great weekend in the Grand Lake area, we drove back over to metro Denver via Rocky Mountain National Park.  Up at the top of the continental divide, there was still quite a bit of snow on the ground.

Old Fall River Road

After hearing about Rocky Mountain National Park and the Grand Lake area, Heather and I decided that we needed to go check it out.  We loaded up the 4runner and headed north to the entrance to the park.  We decided to take the Old Fall River Road heading west.  This road was built by prisoners over several years.  It’s a really nice, smooth dirt road.

I love taking the top off of my truck!  It’s even better without the doors.

Lush and green up here.

IMG_0750Not even close to a real shelf road but it is enough to make most drivers nervous.
