Coast Guard helicopter water rescue demonstration at Breakwater

We saw a water rescue demonstration put on by the regional Coast Guard helicopter today. It was a great show during the Coast Guard open house here in Monterey.

The Night Heron Returns

Our friendly local night heron has returned to the harbor side of the Coast Guard Jetty at Breakwater. This little winged dinosaur likes to hunt where the water is pretty clear and lots of little fish hide out.
This pup decided to cuddle up to a big bull on the jetty rocks.

The return of Plucky!

After a few weeks of being absent, our favorite otter is back at Breakwater! Plucky the juvenile sea otter that we have been watching for the last few months is growing up fast. But Plucky still has the same old habits of eating muscles right up against the rocks along the jetty where Plucky gets battered by the surf.
