Lincoln Memorial After Dark

The Lincoln Memorial in all its glory.

The Washington Monument beyond where the Reflecting Pool should be.  It was torn up for renovation.

World War II Memorial

The World War II Memorial is new since the last time I was in DC more than a decade ago.  As we walked up to the monument, fireflies alighted from the grass.  It was beautiful.  I’m pretty sure Sarah missed them though.

The central portion of the monument.

I found Oregon in the monument.

Hurricane Irene Storm Damage

This was pretty much the extent of the storm damage that we found from Hurricane Irene.  All the fuss and the canceling of flights into DC didn’t amount to very much in the end.  Elsewhere the storm did worse but in DC it was pretty much a non-event.

Yes, a branch blew off a tree!  The horror!
