Mike’s Beach Resort with Heather
Heather and I went up to Mike’s Beach Resort for a week of seclusion and diving on the Hood Canal in Washington State. Our little waterfront cabin had some amazing views.
Underwater near the clam beds.
One of the many sunken boats that Mike has put out over the years to attract wildlife.
Lots of fish milling about.
Heather taking some photos.
Taking a picture of a nudibranch.
Beautiful sea polyps.
Heather ready to go for a dive off of the oyster beach.
Ready to go!
Sea slug.
At night we played board games. It was really relaxing.
Misty dawn.
Heather’s mask took a dive. It now resides on our wall at home. We had to use one of our spare masks for Heather for the rest of the trip.
Evening on the dive site with low tide.
Our dry suits hanging out on some chairs, getting warm in the sun.
Looking down off the pier.
The little cabins we stayed in are to the left.
A perfectly still morning. We had the site to ourselves for the entire week.
Absolutely gorgeous sunsets.
Checking out more life underwater.
Polyps on an old washing machine drum.
Photo time!
Swimming through the sea pen forest.
2013 Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Oregon Regional ROV Contest
Heather and I volunteered at the 2013 MATE Oregon Regional ROV contest in Lincoln City, Oregon. I’ve put together a playlist of videos above that show some of the many ROVs that competed. It was a fun day!
