Coit Tower and Christopher Columbus

Walking up the steps of Coit Tower, we found this curious inscription.  Evidently Gan’s Ting-A-Ling Cocktail Bar donated enough money to get a step engraved with the business’s name.

Who is that statue?  Why, it’s Christopher Columbus, of course.  Makes perfect sense to have him in San Francisco staring out toward the Pacific.

Coit Tower.  I’m told it was designed to look like a fire hose nozzle.

How’s it going, Columbus?

The Pacific and the fog.

Heading to Coit Tower

After meeting up with Sean in foggy San Francisco, we headed out on a walk to Coit Tower.

The lawn bowling area in Golden Gate Park.

Lawn bowling only!

I can smell the hipsters.  They’re everywhere!

Wasteland.

Please don’t sit on the orange and black polka dot dinosaur.

A fire truck converted into a tour bus.

I wonder what gets carried inside this cage.

I saw the flier.  Never did try the 2D barcode though.

Cute old house at a sharp corner.

Our first beer stop of the day.  After a couple pints we continued on our sojourn.

The US Mint.

Into the Financial District.

Lots of motorcycles and scooters lined up.

The Transamerica Pyramid.

You can find some odd old buildings in downtown.

More scooters.

Looking straight up the tower.

A visit to San Francisco is not complete without saying hello to the Church of Scientology.

The Transamerica Pyramid in the distance.

On our wanderings we found a 1989 Honda Pacific Coast PC800 sitting in amongst other motorcycles.  This one was in pretty decent shape and had the optional passenger backrest.  It also had less than 30k miles on the odometer.

Rose City Till I Die! Portland Timbers vs Seattle Sounders

People started lining up for the game three days prior.  The police cleared them out every night but they always came back the next morning.

We found our spot in line under a conveniently located shade tree.

Rose City Till I Die.

We watched the USA vs Brazil World Cup game in line.

The Tifo was EPIC.  The King of Clubs.  Seriously.  Go search for it on YouTube.

It was an AWESOME game.  Sean is now a Timbers fan as well.
