Visiting the Bald Mountain Lookout

I went out to Dinkey Creek to help my parents with a few things and did a little exploring of some of the back trails in the area.

My favorite trailer kitty, Miss Poofy!

Up on Bald Mountain at the old lookout tower.

There’s a lot of exposed granite to play on up here.

It’s always fun playing around in high places.

At the base of the lookout tower.

The original structure on top of the tower is long gone but someone built a replica.  Or at least that’s what appears to have happened.  Unfortunately the lighting arresting equipment is long gone so it wouldn’t be a wise decision to be anywhere near here in a storm.

A view from up on top of Bald Mountain.

Shaver Lake in the distance.

The back country where we go backpacking is in the background of this picture.

Lots of granite to play on!

Playing around on some rocks.

Over at a lake on Southern California Edison Land near my parents.

Frost at Forked Meadow

I popped over to Dinkey Creek to help my parents with a few things at the cabin that’s under construction.

Early morning on the meadow.

Sun coming up in the east will soon chase the frost away.

It’s getting to be a frosty time of year in the High Sierras.

Miss Poofy, my favorite floofy kitty, is enjoying being a full-time indoor cat after about a decade of being an indoor-outdoor cat.  She loves being a trailer cat and is looking forward to the cabin being finished.

I took my Toyota 4runner out to play around for a few minutes in the local Bald Mountain OHV Area.

Steam Donkey Steam Up at Shaver Lake

We went over to the Central Sierra Historical Society museum for their annual steamup where they run the old steam donkey that used to pull logs through the forests around Shaver Lake when all the old growth sugar pine were cut down.
