In the afternoon, it got cloudy at Forked Meadow. As the snow sublimates off, it creates local clouds that make for some really pretty but also chilly conditions. The sequoia seedlings are doing well in the snow (last photo with the orange stakes). The creek has frozen over in a few spots and the snow from the last few days hasn’t melted in the water.
A Morning Snowstorm and Afternoon Exploration at Forked Meadow
We had a small snowstorm this morning at Forked Meadow that added a couple of inches to the base snowpack. The storm cleared by mid morning and then it was a gorgeous afternoon of fresh, crisp snow.
I took the John Deer side by side out to check out the fresh snow and turned into a bit of a popsicle. It was great fun out in the snow!
Beautiful Clouds over a Snowy Forked Meadow
Today was a beautiful day at Forked Meadow in the Central Sierras. The clouds were dynamic and gorgeous. The mix of sun and shadow across the snow in the meadows and woods was divine. The temperature was cold but pleasant. It was a great day for rambling around, looking at how the depths of winter can impact the meadows.
