Beautiful Clouds over a Snowy Forked Meadow

Today was a beautiful day at Forked Meadow in the Central Sierras. The clouds were dynamic and gorgeous. The mix of sun and shadow across the snow in the meadows and woods was divine. The temperature was cold but pleasant. It was a great day for rambling around, looking at how the depths of winter can impact the meadows.

Snowy Wanderings at Forked Meadow

The snow at Forked Meadow continues to hang around. We’ve gotten some snow this year but it’s been pretty minimal overall compared to historical averages. There is maybe 2-3 feet of snow in the meadows but with some areas already bare. We’ll see if we get very many more storms this winter. The Sierra Nevada snowpack can be a fickle thing.

Visiting Forked Meadow in September

I went up to Forked Meadow to visit my parents, Poofy, and see their newly completed house.

I installed and adjusted a few cameras.

This place is so breathtaking.

Bear tracks in the dust.

Beautiful days around the meadows.

I could get used to working from here.

Getting the snow blower ready to be serviced.
