Hiking into Nelson Lake

My parents and I went backpacking into the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness to go camping at Nelson Lake.  This is the first time the three of us have gone backpacking together in quite some time.

Our two backpacks at a rest break.

Heading through the meadows on the way up to Nelson Lake.

We encountered some snow in the woods as we got closer to the lake.  This is a real late season backpacking trip!

Checking out Forked Meadow

Forked Meadow is such a beautiful to spend some time at.  In the mornings the meadows are often frost-covered.

Walking up past the “grand canyon” cut in one of the meadows.

A little bit of water coming down from the upper meadows through this creek.

There is quite a bit of water coming down from the forest.

Clean, clear, and cold water.

These meadows sure are beautiful!
