A change in the weather came quickly to campus today. In the morning it was sunny and warm. Suddenly a fast-moving cold front barreled through Golden, dropping the temperature below freezing and bringing snow.
Snow started falling on campus.
It quickly started to accumulate.
Walking to my car in the afternoon, I was covered in snow in a few minutes!
Heather and I went hiking at Mount Galbraith Park today. It is part of the extensive Jefferson County Open Space network. This is the creek at the bottom of Golden Gate Canyon.

There were a bunch of cactus all over the mountain. I guess we live in a desert!

Heading down through the snowy shade back to the car. It was a fun little hike.
After traveling through then night to reach Pendleton, I woke up the next morning to find my car covered in snow and more falling rapidly.
Conditions on the freeway were pretty dicey. The semi trucks were going slow and it was very treacherous to pass them.
Sometimes the semis passed each other which made for very exciting conditions.
