The wonderful open source PhotoRec saved the day earlier this week when one of the compact flash cards that contained photos of my recent trip to Alaska decided to corrupt itself. Previously I had used this utility to recover another corrupted flash disk. Each time it was able to bring all of the photos back! If you have a corrupted flash disk perhaps caused by disconnecting it before the drive has been unmounted from a Mac, try this program. It works!
Some things to remember
A few things I want to remember…
Interesting Software
- ASAP Utilities: A free add-on for Excel which increase its functionality and usefulness.
- PhotoRec: A free flash disk recovery tool.
Movies and TV Shows
- 2nd season of Invader Zim
- There Will be Blood (recommended by Sean)
Things I want to Do
- Compile a map of the Mac Dunn forest including all of the old hand-drawn maps that are floating around. Publish this in a digital format that other people can add to and whatnot.
- Create a map of the PNW dive sites with data about them like what Layne and I have been talking about
- Create a plugin or a theme or something to post all of my dive log stuff into WordPress
- Create a plugin or theme template or whatever to put my motorcycle riding logs and bicycling stuff and exercise stuff into wordpress better
Foobar 2000 audio player
The Foobar 2000 audio player is yet another piece of software that I find quite useful. It plays pretty much every audio format I have ever thrown at it. Unlike what happened to WinAmp, this software is surprisingly low-bloat.
