Transit to Dubrovnik via Bosnia

STA_1248-STF_1253

On our way from Split to Dubrovnik, we transited through a slim strip of land that belongs to Bosnia and Herzegovina.  The entire Dalmatian coast is gorgeous.

Trojir

The little town of Trojir is north of Split.  Old town sits on a tiny island between the mainland and a larger island.

IMG_1189

The narrow streets are fun to wander.

The old fort on the north side of town.

Another old bastion of safety for the townsfolk.  I suspect that there used to be city walls off the sides of this fortification but now there are soccer fields.

Stari Grad on the Island of Hvar

IMG_1115Kristen and I hopped from the island of Vis to the island of Hvar on a series of ferries.

In Stari Grad, the main city on Hvar, we found some lunch.

IMG_1120Yachts and pleasure boats line the harbor in Stari Grad.  This is a big party place and the wealthy love to come play here.

IMG_1121This island is much more busy than Vis.

After an excellent meal, we were relaxing in our room when we heard a beautiful two-part harmony aria drifting up from the street below. The son of the hotel’s owner was sitting on the front steps singing with one of his friends. It was an absolutely perfect way to end the day on Hvar.
