Descending South Sister

Back at the glacial lake, we stopped to rest.

We also refilled a few water bottles for the long descent back to the car.

This snow bank made it sound like there was a waterfall nearby.  It just happened to be water falling off the underside of the snow.  I wonder if this snowbank will melt out this year before it starts snowing again.

 Our puppies still trucking along.

The resident chipmunk.  I see this guy every time I come up here.

Down by Moraine Lake on the way back to the car.

After returning to our vehicles, we all went into Bend and had dinner and beer at the Deschutes Public House.  It was a fitting end to a wonderful day of hiking.

Snow Crossing at the Summit of South Sister

A panorama of the snow field that Dmitri and I crossed to return to the trail leading off the summit.

Some people failing at glissading.

Dmitri tried sunning himself in the snow.  It turned out to be a cold idea.

On the snow.

Crossing back to the trail and the rest of our party.

South Sister Summit Looking North

A 360 degree panorama from the summit of South Sister from the north edge.  The two close mountains are Middle and North Sisters.  Further out is Mount Jefferson, Mount Hood, and Mount Jefferson.  Three Finger Jack and black Butte are also visible in this photo.

Hanging out with the Three Sisters.

I think that might be The Husband or The Wife.
