Yankee Hill Looking at St. Mary’s Glacier

20150822_153916_Richtone(HDR)After the Rising Sun 4×4 Rally down in Golden, I took my 4runner up to Central City and went over the top of Yankee Hill down to St. Mary’s Glacier and Alice.  Several times before I’ve tried to get over the top only to be blocked by snow.  This time the roads were good and the driving was easy.  I continue to remain extremely impressed with the performance of my plucky little 4runner.

Back Over The Mountains Through Rocky Mountain National Park

STA_0981 - STJ_0990After a great weekend in the Grand Lake area, we drove back over to metro Denver via Rocky Mountain National Park.  Up at the top of the continental divide, there was still quite a bit of snow on the ground.

Coming Off the Mountain

We headed down off of our mountain campsite toward Grand Lake.  The storm clouds were already building and threatening rain.  It was a rainy week in Grand Lake and while it was fun camping high up on the mountain, it wasn’t as fun trying to find dry wood in the soaking wet forest.
