My first real experience driving in Australia. It is very strange to drive on the left side of the road and sit in the right seat to drive.
A classic Queenslander house.
Not fast enough!
Coming over the mountains that separate the coastal plain from the great interior nothing.
Descending into the verdant plains of Queensland.
Twisty roads.
We stopped in the small town of Taroom for the evening because petrol stations in Australia generally close by 5pm. Obviously no one in their right minds would drive after dark due to the menace of kangaroos. We pulled into Taroom at about 10pm and had to settle for the rather spartan public camper park. It cost us each $4 AUD for our night’s stay. That was the cheapest we ever paid for a campervan park.
Driving into the night in the Queensland bush we stopped in the middle of the road to take a few photos. The night sky unfolded above us like nothing I have ever seen before.
